We’re excited to introduce Gateway Gen 2, the new standard gateway for all Verdi deployments. Built on the RAKwireless WisGate Edge Pro V2 platform, it brings improved radio performance, a tougher weatherproof enclosure, faster response times, and new connectivity options, including cellular backhaul.

What's new

  • More capacity for larger operations: Dual LoRa concentrators support up to 16 simultaneous channels, double Gen 1’s 8 - so your gateway grows with your operation.
  • 15-second response time: Manual controls from the Verdi Dashboard reach field devices in 15 seconds, down from about 2 minutes on Gen 1. Requires the advanced software subscription ($50/device/year); the standard plan ($30/device/year) still works, just without the speed boost until you upgrade.
  • Built for wherever your operation runs: IP67-rated, sealed aluminum and engineering-plastic enclosure rated -40°C to +70°C, with built-in surge protection on the PoE port - built for permanent outdoor installation in any climate.
  • Cleaner installation: Internal Wi-Fi, GPS, and LTE antennas replace Gen 1’s external cables, for a faster install with fewer points of failure.
  • Cellular backhaul option: The LTE variant (CV2) connects via a NanoSIM card with an active data plan, keeping remote sites connected without running cable.
  • Over-the-air firmware updates: Bug fixes, new features, and hardware support reach your system automatically - no field visits required.
  • Solar and battery diagnostics: Paired with the RAK9155 Battery Plus, Gateway Gen 2 reports power and battery status to the Verdi platform, so our support team can check levels remotely before dispatching anyone.

Availability

Gateway Gen 2 is included in all new Verdi deployments starting now. Existing Gen 1 gateways don’t need to be replaced unless you’re expanding capacity or need the LTE cellular option. No software changes are required - it connects to the same Verdi Dashboard you already use.
